About Us
Brooke McCauley, Managing Partner
Brooke moved
to the area from Northern Virginia in search of a quieter way of
life. His love
of horses and the Newberry area are a perfect match. He enjoys
the beauty of the farm as students and parents do, and especially
enjoys riding Saab, our 21 year old 17 hand Russian Warmblood
Schoolmaster. His two daughters, Anna and Sean, are active and
experienced with
horses. He is extremely proud of the excellent team that operates
West End Equestrian Center, and among other improvements, looks
forward to the addition of an irrigation system for the two arenas,
coming in the summer of 2006. If you are looking for a place
for your daughter's horse while she attends UF or Santa Fe Community
College, please stop by for a tour of the facility.
Brooke can be
reached in his office at the farm or by telephone at (352) 472-9977,
on his cell at (352) 354-4777, or by email at
Brooke@WestEndEquestrian.com.

Susannah
Howells, Dressage Trainer and Instructor
USDF
Bronze, Silver & Gold Medalist
- Born and raised in California, Susannah Howells began her riding
career at a very early age in Dressage and
jumping. She studied for 8 years as a working student with Creeky
Routson (S judge and longtime student of Charles DeKnuffy) and earned
her USDF Bronze Medal by the time she was 15 years old. During the
summers of high school, she was a working student for Jan Ebeling
at his farm in Colorado.
Susannah earned a BA from the University of California at Davis.
During this time, she continued riding and taught adult dressage
lessons at the UCD Equestrian Center. Ballet and modern dance were
integral parts of her education and have made a large impact on her
riding and instruction.
Upon graduation, Susannah moved to Florida, becoming a working student
for Michael and Sharon Poulin and purchased her current riding partner,
Tango. In 2003, she earned her USDF Silver Medal and participated
as a 4th level demonstration rider in the 2004 North American
Dressage
Trainers Association Symposium with Dr. Volker Moritz and Ingrid
Klimke. After three years of classical dressage education from the
Poulins, Susannah has earned her USDF Gold Medal on Tango. An avid
student of Dressage, she continues to take clinics and lessons with
the Poulins on a regular basis, as well as participating in programs
such as the USDF Premier Dressage Adult Clinic Series with Walter
Zettl in 2004 and taking annual clinics with Dr. Volker Moritz.
Now working as a trainer and instructor at West End Equestrian Center,
Susannah is an enthusiastic and positive teacher who is glad to pass
on the correct classical training methods to students of all ages.
Lunge line lessons are a large focus of the educational program at
the Center to strengthen and help balance the rider, as well as time
in the Dressage arena working on movements and gymnastics with the
horse and rider. Students are welcome to bring their own horses for
lessons; schoolmasters are also available. Horses in training are
welcome at all levels.
